Tailgating with Pete in Athens, GA

In the fall of 2003 I received a phone call from Alan and he said his son (Pete) and a buddy were writing an article for Texas AM on college tailgating ( what an assignment, wish we all could have such a tough class) and could I hook them up with some tickets for the Alabama/Bulldawg game in Athens (which Pete (UGA) attended his freshman year. It's my understanding Pete had a "Great" time in Athens that year (that's why he was at AM his soph. year) Well Pete shows up with not one buddy but two, panic set in because I only had two tickets, but in typical Bulldawg fashion my son was able to cover him. I thought Pete would get the tickets and head out, but he stay the entire day and joined us in adult beverages ( I checked his ID) and food. We had a blast (as we always do)and what the "Dawgs" dismantle Ala. 37-23.
In the Fall of 2006 the call came from Alan that he (a Bulldawg Grad) his two sons and a buddy wanted to see Ga. play Tn. Pete,Zach,Alan and the buddy (do not remember his name) joined us again.
Pete and his buddy were heading to Ft. Benning OCS school the next day in Atl. Again we had the usually blast ( except we lost) eating, drinking, and throwing the old football around.
-The guys I tailgate with (for 25+ years) still ask about the kid that was writing the article on Tailgating, I still say that had to be one of the best assignments ever invented!!If infact it was an assignment, you know I don't remember any notes taken. Oh well, bet is was a great story.
